with the existing documentation I was not able to get the plugin to work... had to investigate with loads of other gradle-plugins ...

Same here, what I get now when I try to upload using bintrayUpload is

Error:Some problems were found with the configuration of task ':project:bintrayUpload'.

No value has been specified for property 'repoName'.
No value has been specified for property 'packageName'.
No value has been specified for property 'user'.
No value has been specified for property 'apiKey'.

Please update documentation and examples.

Please, update docs, make a step-by-step guide. A user should search A LOTS on other resources to figure out how to use this script. In example, there is no information on where to put bintray_user and bintray_api_key, how to include maven keys, which command should be used on gradle, how to sign, etc. It is almost impossible to get into for a person who is not experienced in groovy/jcenter/maven. Want to have a service that is easier to use than maven central (you promote it like this) - create good docs, guys.

P.S.

This is how docs should look like: https://github.com/chrisbanes/gradle-mvn-push

It took me 5 minutes to upload my project to maven central.

+1 for updated documentation. I get the same error as @Mariuxtheone although I configured everything as described in the current documentation. Now I'm lost.

State of the documentation is super frustrating. You can't expect people to store api keys to build.gradle and push it to Github? So why do you show something like that as the only example?

We will soon review and update the documentation. We'll update after this is done. We appreciate your feedback.

I still get errors following examples and documentation. same as @Mariuxtheone above. 1.2 of plugin. Following docs of course, so something is wrong there still

Ah, my issue is it being applied from init script breaks something... not sure is same as @Mariuxtheone in terms of cause, but in terms of results the same message.
