Please note that the actual terminal emulator app that Cmder uses is ConEmu, and it doesn't appear to support different cursor styles based on the "insert" mode: https://conemu.github.io/en/SettingsTextCursor.html You may also ask the author if they can implement this, however @Maximus5 has not been active for quite a while; they will not likely add this feature to ConEmu. However, Cmder supports alternative terminal emulators, such as Windows Terminal, which is a modern and better alternative for ConEmu, if you are on Windows 10 or 11. https://github.com/cmderdev/cmder/wiki/Seamless-Windows-Terminal-Integration Please follow the guide above to see if you prefer integrating Cmder with Windows Terminal, instead of the built-in ConEmu. Doing a quick search, it appears that WT doesn't allow customizing the exact shape for the insert mode, although it makes a distinction by switching from the ▂ shape to █ shape when it is on. |

Right now there is only one cursor style for both insert mode and overlay mode.
How to customize the style and/or shape of the respective console Text Cursor in the different modes of insert and overstrike?
