What application(s) are you looking to use this in?

This has come up before - and really does not make sense.
Same with many (most) of the GF fonts.
They only have one optical size.
LibreOffice (LO) users can only only use the pre-defined instances so they are left out.
And often both the static fonts and the instances often have very limited options.

You just reminded me that I have wanted to create some versions for LO users with a lot more instances.
For Inter ... and other font families.
And make the Bold and Italic buttons work properly.
In the repo version of Inter variable neither the Bold or Italic buttons work properly in LO.
In the GF version of Inter the Bold button does not work, but the Italic button works (mostly) in LO.
There are variable fonts which do work, both Bold, and Italic, in LO.
So I can copy what they are doing.
Some of it is very manual, so it is time consuming.

Just been playing with the Roman variable font today.
Added the Display optical size (32), and also three intermediate optical sizes (18, 24, 28).
The default Text optical size is 14.
So this test font is Text (14), 18, 24, 28, and Display (32) tested on LO.

Also mostly works in Word and Affinity Publisher.
This may be a bit much with all the optical sizes.

So it may take awhile, but this is coming.
Let me kow if you would like to test (in your desired app).
