Introduction

This budget request focuses on the essential, user-centered support work by J and Barry, along with Delist’s role in managing the yearn.social Telegram group. Building on our contributions from the previous cycle, we remain dedicated to providing responsive, high-quality assistance, scam prevention, ongoing tool maintenance, and community engagement to enhance user experience and safety.

Alongside ongoing support efforts, J is developing automation and AI-assisted support solutions to reduce repetitive manual work and improve efficiency. While this development is underway, yPort and yDeposits will be kept in maintenance mode to ensure stability. This BR continues the scope outlined in our last BR, here.

Scope

ySupport provides real-time user support across Discord, Telegram, and Reddit, acting as the first point of contact for troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring community security. Our key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting users with vault interactions, transaction tracing, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Monitoring and removing scam activity across all channels.
  • Developing automation tools to reduce manual workload for repetitive inquiries and increase response efficiency.
  • Maintaining support tools (yPort & yDeposits) while focusing development efforts on AI-assisted automation for support queries.
  • Collaborating with Yearn’s devdocs maintainer, Ross, to improve FAQ-based support and ensure updated documentation.

Additionally, Delist manages the yearn.social Telegram group, maintaining engagement and discussions on YFI and Yearn-related topics.

Plan

Technical Support and Inquiry Handling

  • Provide users with guidance on navigating complex blockchain transactions, vault interactions, and general troubleshooting.
  • Handle technical inquiries related to product-specific and broader DeFi topics, including tracing token transfers and assisting users in interacting with smart contracts through block explorers.
  • Test and integrate automation tools to streamline repetitive support tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Ross (devdocs maintainer) to enhance Yearn documentation and FAQ-based support.

Scam Prevention and Community Protection

  • Monitor all channels for scam activity, with J overseeing Discord’s Automod system and both J and Barry manually banning scammers on Discord, Telegram, and Reddit.
  • In December 2024 and January 2025, we handled:
    • December: 137 public inquiries, 54 tickets resolved, and 342 scammers/spammers manually banned.
    • January: 121 public inquiries, 44 tickets resolved, and 387 scammers/spammers manually banned.
  • Adapt community protections to counteract evolving scam tactics and enhance security measures.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and professional support environment for Yearn users.

Tool Maintenance and Development

  • Maintaining and Improving Support Tools
    • yPort and yDeposits remain operational but will be in maintenance mode this cycle while J focuses on developing an AI-assisted support bot. Small incremental updates may still apply.
    • yDeposits will continue generating daily reports, including top vaults by APR, pricePerShare anomalies, and APR gainers/losers, but no major feature updates are planned.
    • yPort will continue operating, consolidating vault deposit data across multiple addresses without further development this cycle.
  • Developing an AI-Assisted Support Bot
    • J is currently researching, testing, and building an AI-assisted support bot to handle basic inquiries in support tickets and streamline responses to common user questions.
    • The bot will integrate AI/LLM API with function calling, enabling it to fetch real-time vault and transaction data using RPC and Yearn’s (ydaemon) API.
    • The goal is to reduce repetitive manual work while maintaining accuracy in responses.
    • Early testing is ongoing, with initial implementations expected to handle frequently asked questions and expand into more complex user interactions over time. See ySupport Telegram chat for examples.
