I'm not an expert on this, but could it be another Homebrew hiccup?

This likely means that your installation is broken.

Try running the command

  gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /Users/travis/.julia/v0.4/Homebrew/deps/usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

to make things work again for the time being.

What should we for this PR? Ignore CI on Mac?

it worked a few weeks ago, ref https://travis-ci.org/JuliaGraphics/Gtk.jl/builds/142129851 - but Homebrew.jl has gone through some overhauls recently

@lobingera my point was that if it only fails on mac then it is likely not the PR's fault since the change should be OS agnostic.
