GLStation SX1303 - LoRaWAN Base Station | GLStation hardware | GLStation firmware | GLStation Setup | GLStation Mesh
This document is a short description of the hardware and software solutions of the GLStation SX1303 LoraWAN Base Station.
GLStation SX1303 is a low-cost, low-power LoRaWAN base station unit with a Fine timestamping property. This unit can be used with GLSensor tracker to resolve Lora sensor geolocation information. GLStation is a fully compatible with ChirpStack open-source LoRaWAN Network Server.

GLStation receives and transmits data between LoRaWAN sensors and a LoRaWAN server. It is a similar component to a WLAN router that connects wireless WLAN devices to the LAN or internet.
GLStation gateways enable large-scale network expansion with a multi-hop network architecture.
- Multi-hop Network Architecture: Data can be transmitted through multiple nodes (devices) before reaching its final destination. Each node can relay data to the next node in the network.
- Extended Communication Distance: By using multiple nodes to relay data, the overall communication range of the network is increased. This is particularly useful in large-scale networks where direct communication between distant nodes might not be possible.
- Improved Signal Penetration: Multi-hop transmission helps in overcoming obstacles and improving signal strength. Since the data is relayed through multiple nodes, it can navigate around physical barriers more effectively.
- Reduced Communication Pressure on Individual Nodes: Instead of relying on a single node to handle all the communication, the load is distributed across multiple nodes. This reduces the strain on any one node and can lead to more efficient and reliable network performance.
- Dynamic gateway role switching GLStation can change the gateway role dynamically online between any following roles:
Gateway
|Gateway Border
|Gateway Relay
GLStation gateways create a robust and scalable network by leveraging multi-hop transmission. This approach enhances communication distance, signal penetration, and overall network efficiency.
