Leader no longer shown in banner and is not visible if the leader has other roles

In 7.4.0, the channel leader was changed to no longer be shown in the banner/bar under the channel details, and instead be shown in the member list: #35208 #35417

However, if the leader has other roles (e.g. Owner), then the leader is invisible to other users. Furthermore, there is no option to re-instate the behaviour of showing the banner, which for us was the entire point of the leader role.

What was the reason for these changes? I don't see much purpose in the leader role anymore.
Could we restore the leader banner or make it an option in the settings?
